Gender Equity in K-12 Schools

Research shows that implicit gender bias is firmly established in children by age 6. Even in the most loving classrooms, implicit gender bias exists. It can be found in content, personal interactions, and classroom design. And, its message is a powerful one.

Enlightened Schools provides an initial 3-unit professional development course on gender equity. Educators will be provided with the tools and research needed to assess the gendered culture of their classrooms and schools. They will be supported in creating a robust gender equity plan for themselves and their students.

Enlightened Schools is a 501 (c) non-profit organization founded by Dorothy Venditto, author of Gender Equity in Elementary Schools.
